Hexafluoroisopropanol CAS No 920-66-1 HFIP
Hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP) is a novel fluorinated compound that can be used to prepare various fluorinated chemicals such as surfactants, emulsifiers, and pharmaceuticals. HFIP is readily miscible with water and many organic solvents, exhibits excellent thermal stability, possesses good UV transmittance, and can dissolve most polymers including polyesters, polyamides, polyacrylonitrile, polyacetals, and hydrolyzed polyvinyl esters. Consequently, HFIP is used as an ideal solvent for polymerization systems, an advanced analytical reagent, a cleaning agent in the semiconductor industry, and a regenerant for polymer recycling and regeneration. In recent years, its primary industrial application has been as an important raw material for the inhalation anesthetic sevoflurane.
