As a high‑efficiency organophosphonic acid scale and corrosion inhibitor, Hydroxy Ethylidene Diphosphonic Acid (HEDP) has wide applications.
It is mainly used in industrial water treatment for circulating cooling water systems in power, chemical, metallurgical and fertilizer industries, as well as scale and corrosion inhibition for medium‑low pressure boilers, oilfield water injection and oil pipelines.
It is often compounded with polycarboxylic acid scale dispersants to produce synergistic effects.
In the light textile industry, HEDP serves as a cleaning agent for metals and non‑metals, as well as a peroxide stabilizer and color‑fixing agent in the bleaching and dyeing industry.
It also acts as a complexing agent in cyanide‑free electroplating industry.
