HPMA is a low-molecular-weight polyelectrolyte with a typical relative molecular weight of 400~800. It is non-toxic and readily soluble in water, featuring excellent chemical and thermal stability with a decomposition temperature above 330°C. It exhibits obvious threshold effect under high temperature (350°C) and high pH conditions.

Application Scope and Usage Method
HPMA is suitable for alkaline water quality or can be used in combination with other water treatment chemicals. HPMA maintains excellent scale inhibition and dispersion performance against carbonates at temperatures below 300°C, with the scale inhibition duration up to 100 hours. Thanks to its outstanding scale inhibition property and high-temperature resistance, HPMA is widely applied in flash evaporation units for seawater desalination, low-pressure boilers, steam locomotives, crude oil dehydration, water and oil transmission pipelines, as well as industrial circulating cooling water systems.
HPMA is generally blended with organophosphonates at a dosage of 1~15 ppm for circulating cooling water, oilfield water injection, crude oil dehydration treatment and internal treatment of low-pressure boilers. It can effectively inhibit scale formation and strip aged scale. When compounded with zinc salts, HPMA provides effective corrosion protection for carbon steel. Additionally, HPMA can be used as cement admixture, concrete additive and soil conditioner.
