Sodium hydroxide cas 1310-73-2
Sodium hydroxide, with the chemical formula NaOH, also known as caustic soda or caustic soda, is a highly corrosive strong alkali that is generally in the form of flakes or blocks. It is easily soluble in water (releases heat when dissolved in water) and forms an alkaline solution. It also has deliquescence and can easily absorb water vapor (deliquescence) and carbon dioxide (deterioration) from the air. It can be tested for deterioration by adding hydrochloric acid.
Nature
Sodium hydroxide is one of the essential chemicals in chemical laboratories and is also a common chemical product. The pure product is a colorless and transparent crystal with a density of 2.130g/cm3, a melting point of 318.4 ºC, and a boiling point of 1390 ºC. Industrial products contain small amounts of sodium chloride and sodium carbonate, which are white opaque crystals in the form of blocks, flakes, granules, and rods.
