White granular or powder form, with a bulk density of 0.35–0.95 g/cm³ and a melting point of 622℃. It is readily soluble in water, and its aqueous solution is alkaline. It hydrolyzes gradually into orthophosphate in water and has a good ability to complex with metal ions. It can complex with metal ions such as calcium, magnesium and iron to form soluble complexes and is capable of softening hard water. As an inorganic surfactant, it exhibits certain properties of organic surfactants.

Application
It is mainly used for synthetic detergent as additive, soap synergist and preventing soap grease from separating out and blooming. It has a strong emulsifying effect on lubricating oil and oil fat, and can be used to adjust the PH value of buffer soap solution. It is used as dispersant when preparing suspensions in industries such as industrial water softener, tanning pretanning agent, dyeing assistant, paint, kaolin, magnesium oxide, calcium carbonate, etc. It is used as dispersant for drilling mud, and as anti-oil agent in paper industry.
