Applications
It is used for preparing disinfectants and antiseptics such as bismuth tribromophenolate. Tribromophenol can be converted into poly(2,6-dibromophenyl ether) via solution polycondensation or aqueous precipitation polycondensation—this is a newly developed flame retardant applicable to engineering plastics including nylon 66, thermoplastic polyester, and modified polyphenylene oxide, as well as high-impact polystyrene (HIPS) and ABS resin. Tribromophenol is also a reactive flame retardant suitable for plastics such as epoxy resin and polyurethane.
