Melamine (chemical formula: C3N3(NH2)3), commonly known as protein concentrate, is a triazine-containing nitrogen heterocyclic organic compound used as a chemical raw material.

Main Applications

Condensation polymerization with formaldehyde produces melamine resin, which is used in melamine-formaldehyde molding compounds, decorative paper, and coating industries. It also functions as an anti-wrinkle, anti-shrinkage, and stiffening finishing agent for textiles. Additionally, melamine resin is utilized in durable, heat-resistant decorative laminates, moisture-proof paper, tanning agents for grey leather, and as a fixing agent or hardener for waterproofing treatments.

Amino resins synthesized from melamine, formaldehyde, methanol, and/or butanol exhibit outstanding performance when used as leveling agents in solvent-borne polyurethane coatings.

Melamine resin, produced through condensation polymerization with formaldehyde, is widely used in the manufacturing and processing of wooden construction formwork. It can be applied to waterproof the formwork surface and to bond wood core boards, thereby extending the reuse cycles of the formwork.
