1. Properties:
Colorless to pale yellow oily liquid with a pungent odor. It is prone to oxidation in air or under sunlight, resulting in darkening of color.

Solidification Point: 2.0℃
Boiling Point: 193℃
Flash Point (Open Cup): 77℃
Ignition Point: 317℃
Viscosity (25℃): 1.528 mPa·s
Refractive Index n₂₀ᴰ: 1.5584
Soluble in various organic solvents such as ethanol, diethyl ether, chloroform and benzene, slightly soluble in water.
Flammable; it will burn when exposed to open flame. Its vapor can form explosive mixtures with air, with an explosive limit of 1.2~7.0% (vol).
Highly toxic. It decomposes under high heat to release toxic aniline gas. It can cause poisoning via skin absorption. LD50: 1410 mg/kg; Maximum Allowable Concentration in Air: 5 mg/m³.
2. Main Uses:
Used as a dye intermediate for the production of vanillin, azo dyes and triphenylmethane dyes. It is also used as a solvent, stabilizer, analytical reagent, etc.
