The reaction between sodium hydride (NaH) and water is a violent exothermic reaction, which is dangerous and requires professional operation. Non-professionals are strictly prohibited from imitating it.
Experimental Phenomenon: Take a small amount of gray powdery sodium hydride and put it into a dry test tube. After adding distilled water, the reaction occurs immediately, producing a large number of bubbles and obvious heat release. There is white mist at the mouth of the test tube (a mixture of hydrogen and sodium hydroxide vapor), and hydrogen is flammable.
