Maltodextrin
Maltodextrin is a water-soluble polysaccharide obtained by enzymatic or acid hydrolysis of starch. Its DE value (glucose equivalent) is generally between 3 and 20. It appears as a white powder, has no taste or a slightly sweet flavor, and is soluble in water. It is commonly used as a filler, thickener, carrier or quick-dissolving enhancer in the food industry. It is also used in sports drinks, meal replacement powders, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. It has the same calories as sucrose and a high glycemic index, but its sweetness is extremely low.
